Best non-alcoholic beverage I ever had in my life was the pumpkin spice soda at Alinea.

How much does a meal at that place set you back?

I had two different house-made sodas (would have got more if they were offered!), one beer, and coffee at the tail end.

'Twas $300 with the tip and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Burned in my brain forever.

Hot cocoa from Intelligentsia is also quite wonderful when the weather's cold.

I had never heard of this and my mind is currently being blown at the images on their website.

Is there a place like this in NYC? I'm sure there is.. but does anyone know the names?
(PM, I can make a new thread if you don't want the hijack)

Sorry, but no. If you do enough research about the place, I think you'll come to the same conclusion.

Just do it - solo, with 5 people, whatever - does not matter.

And don't bitch about having to wear a jacket.

After some research, I see the only thing somewhat similar is WD-50 and its apparently not even in the same ballpark as Alinea. Alinea is apparently that great.

You'll have an awesome time in Chicago.

Just to tell you, though - if you were thinking of doing one super-nice meal in NYC, the two places I see most mentioned as a sort of "best bang for the buck" are Eleven Madison Park & Gramercy Tavern. I know I'd be real happy at either one of those.
