Are you stuck on California wines?
A lot of top producers also make great daily drinkers. Take Ornellaia. A renowned super Tuscan producer that also makes a delightful daily drink Le Volte dell'Ornellaia for about $20 a bottle.
You can get a ton of value and expand your palette at the same time by researching some top vineyards.

Vietti makes this Nebbiolo that is really good if you want a baby Barolo.
They also produce a Barbera d'Asti for under $20 that's really nice.
There are a ton of them out there. All the top vineyards still need to make a daily drinker that can be consumed upon release instead of laying on its side to collect dust while it ages.

My go to Nebbiolo is Mauro Sebaste in that same price range

Cloudline can be found for about 16 at Costco. Fabulous pinot out of Willamette. Gets compliments at any party I bring it to.
Mind you, I am a cheapo at times and $16-20 bottles aren't quite everyday wines.

Thanks. I'll give that a try. There are so many affordable options out there.
I'm drinking the Ornellaia now. It's very nice. Earthy. I like earthy wines.

Have you ever tried Ravenswood? They make a great Zinfandel.

The only Pinot I can think of is Willamette's Whole Cluster but that's still around $20
I like that one too. Try Illahe Estate for $23ish. I don't buy a lot of cheap Pinots eaither, but I really like the Illahe.
If I'm OP and I want a single varietal cab at a decent price point, I'm shopping in Argentina or Chile. You get a lot more bang for your buck in South America.

I’ll look it up on Vivino and look out for it. The Estate Pinot from Willamette is really nice and only like $10 more. You can get both at Kroger.
Cherry Cove and Fluer have really good cheap Pinots in the $15 range I’m not sure glue many people stock those labels though

Daou is my go-to cab. Lands at about $21 to $28 per bottle depending on where you find it.

I've been on a big Spanish wine kick the last yr or two. I agree the value to be had is great.

Try some of the Washington Cabs. Oregon Pinot. Lot bigger bang for your buck. Both are softer but very layered. The Pinot is more Burgundian in style.

Had a bottle of the Substance CS Cab last night. Good call, it has definitely made its way into the rotation.

If I had $20 to spend blindly without even reading labels, I would absolutely pick something from Spain. Red or white. Doesn't matter. Lots of good shite coming out of Spain.
