They are on blowout at Lowe's so I grabbed one for kicks. On a tuesday night I don't necessarily want to wait 25 minutes for the charcoal to come up just to grill a couple venison links. Friend of mine with lots of bbq hardware said electric is just as good as gas.

From the PR pics it's clearly marketed toward city/apartment folks which I am not.

Not too worried about that if I kill the meat I cook on it. Good talk.

if you’ve already purchased the thing, season up a few chicken breasts & burgers and see what it can do… report back with results

I've read where they get up to 600 degrees so it should be pretty good.

Is it like a big George Foreman grill?

I suppose if I retired to a waterfront condo that restricted coal and gas or any open flame grills, this would be something I'd look at. Something suspect is that Weber's site doesn't even show a pic of the cooking surface. Is it a flat top, like a glorified hotplate or electric griddle?

Yes it is, plus it comes with a couple inserts. Not bad if you have a situation where you couldn't use an open flame grill.

Was $100 at my Lowes on clearance. I would never pay 450 for this but for 100 if I don't like it, I'll give it to some neighborhood kids going to college.

This is the inside. Comes with two cast iron grates and two stamped steel smoke/steam boxes that I might not use.

I'm going to make some venison links tonight and will report back.

I would suggest you grab a small bag of lava rocks from Lowe's, or home depot, and put those in the bottom of the grill, around the heating element. You won't notice an immediate effect, but after a couple cooks the grease that will be absorbed by the rocks will produce some decent smoke. I have done this for years with my gas grills, and it produces very good results.

Not bad, make some venison links tonight for sausage dogs. By far the easiest and least messy compared to the old options which were charcoal grill, cast skillet on stove, and cast skillet in oven.

I'm going to keep it around.
