East African coffee brands

I used to belong to a coffee subscription that sourced whole beans from all over the world. Whenever we got one from an East African country it was head and shoulders better than not only other regions but other brands that you get in typical grocery stores. Anyone have a recommendation for a brand from this region? Doesn’t have to be in a store, I can order online. Preferably Amazon or something I can set up a recurring order.

Most of your specialty coffee labels should have single origin selections from East Africa.
Intelligentsia and Stumptown are two such brands that I've had and liked on occasion.
Even some of your better local roasters may do the same.
If you've liked some of the choices that you've gotten through your subscription service, why not see if those selections have their own website where you can order from?

The district donuts in BR used to sell Cool Kids Coffee and they usually have a couple different beans. Looking at their website, it looks like they have a couple different beans from East Africa that you can order online:

And my favorite bean has been Yirgacheffe. Any place that I've gotten that bean has been fantastic.

This particular subscription (Atlas) sources the beans and brands them as their own. They don’t source different brands like most of the subscriptions do.

I haven't tried the African coffees, but we love their coffee from Peru. Philly Fair Trade Roasters might be worth checking out. The selections can vary, but it looks like they have some options from Burundi and Ethiopia.

We got beans from Malawi a couple times and I was blown away by how good it was. Zambia and Tanzania were also solid but to this day those Malawi roasts were the best.

You can’t select a region. They send you whatever they’re sourcing that month. Which is why we cancelled. It was great for 2-3 years, but they have off months where we really don’t like the coffee. One time we got China and it was undrinkable. Tasted like deli meat. We may get another subscription someday, it was good coffee most of the time but right now I want to find a good one I really like.
