I’m going to pick up some Dungeness Crabs(Metacarcinus magister) with some good buddies today. Probably going to pick up some live ones from Hong Kong Market on the Wank, Whole Foods is also an option.

What’s you fella’s favorite way to have them prepared?

Man, how the hell would you know the scientific name of a Dungeness Crab?

Thank you for clarifying. If you had just said “Dungeness Crab”, I would have been like WTF is that?

But since you said Metacarcinus magister, yeah of course I know what that is.

But what about those among us who live in the ITIS world of taxonomy and not the more Belgium-centric WoRMS world of taxonomy? Shouldn’t you have dropped a Cancer magister on us just to better connect with the reading audience?

But with regard to your question - eat them like you would Blue Crab. Boil em.

I like to think of myself as a real man of the reading audience, good buddy.

Steamed with drawn butter or ghee. When it comes to crab, I think simpler is better because it's such a delicate flavor.

While I agree, I do like a little spice in my crabs. We visit friends of in Seattle from time to time and catch and boil dungeness while there. They add no seasoning at all and it's just to bland.

Cooked two tonight. Steamed them the served them with drawn butter. That sweet meat needs no more.
