The crawfish cooker above-put it in a pantyhose and it will stay much cleaner and you can cook it with the crawfish.
How long would you boil the bird for?

i usually do a hen...and boil an hour or 2 after we pull our last sack of crawfish out......depends on how many folks we have drinkin and eatin!
hour and half at a rollin boil should be plenty. pull it out of the boil and let it cool while you are cleanin up the boil....set in the fridge when you go to bed......debone in the morning and make some chicken salad. winner.

If you put it in a pantyhose and tie the end you can just put it in with the crawfish and let it go. No need to spend an extra hour of propane. The pantyhose keeps the gradue off of it and the little bit of chicken fat that comes out makes the crawfish peel easier.

Approx. how long would you need to grill the the chicken for, saying you have an average size baking chicken and grill set at 250-300? Sounds delish. Thanks.

I'd have my grill a little hotter than that, especially if you're cooking with charcoal as the coals will get less hot as the cooking progresses. You wanna cook the chicken for at least an hour, then check it. When you can pull on the wing, and it's just going to slide right out...you're done. You usually wanna cook the bird for about an hour and fifteen minutes....give or take. Like I said, just test the wing joint.
