The wife and I found ourselves down in St. Bernard Parish Saturday morning and decided to make a stop at Randazzo's Bakery on Judge Perez to pick up some of their large chocolate eclairs.

Two observations-----they are a good bit more expensive than I remember and they are just as good as I remember.

Four large eclairs and a small bag of pistolettes came in just under $20. The pistolettes were used to make some smoked pulled pork sandwiches when we got home and it wasn't until Sunday night that we cracked open the box of pastries. They hit the spot for sure.

It has gone up since they have branched out a bit more. Glad to hear it all came out great though! Those pistolettes sound solid!

Was there also a bakery on Paris Rd near Judge Perez? I seem to remember going there as a kid but could be wrong. All that shite was great.

That is a very busy corner with tons of commercial stuff going on and I didn't notice any bakery. I know years ago there was a donut shop on the right hand side when you got to the light on Paris Rd. and Judge Perez if heading toward the Green Bridge. It could still be there, but I didn't really look for it.

I grew up in the Lower 9th and there was a Klotzbach's on St. Claude on the river side of the street between Tricou and Delery St. and another one near Nicholl's on St. Claude. I loved their "Sinkers", a very heavy cupcake like pastry with the hard icing on top in 3 colors, chocolate, strawberry and vanilla.

Mackenzie had a bakery on Judge Perez, also on the river side across for what use to be the old Randazzo building near the old bowling alley location.

"Sinkers" were my favorite pastry. Dixiana Bakery in Schweggman's had them too. I have not seen one in years, does anyone know where they can found?

I forgot about these. I would also like to know where I can grab these.

I'd venture to guess barrooms outnumber donut shops 5-1. I told my wife as we were driving through this weekend that you can hardly get out of view of a bar before another one is in sight.

I don’t remember. I was young when I would go and we would hit multiple spots. Still a good memory of all that goodness.
