We're doing roast beef poboys tomorrow so I decided to run out to N.O. East and pick up a bunch of loaves of French bread from Dong Phuong Bakery. Got 16 loaves of which one has magically disappeared already. They had just put out fresh warm bread as I arrived there. I couldn't resist with butter when I got home.
Oh, and of course I also got a few Banh Mi while I was there.
One couple came in behind me and wanted a # 7 and a #5. The lady misunderstood and made them seven #5's. Lol..... The guy bought all seven even though he didn't have to.

Too bad we don't have a bakery like DP here in B.R.

I would be hitting it up several times a week minimum.

While good, at the end of the day bread can only be so good and I often can’t justify driving out there.

K. I'll be at Hi Do if anyone needs me. Better bread, IMHO (come for me) and never a crowd.

Better King Cake, definitely. Don't think I've ever had their french bread.

Ban Mi Boys on Airline at Transcontinental uses this bakery’s bread for their poboys and ban mi and it is pretty damn good.

No, but you don't need to in order to follow the story, unless you're retarded.
