Is it a worthwhile purchase?
How often do you use it?
What brand do you have?

Thanks!

The Ronco mentioned earlier.

What's wrong with that?

Good seasoning, and 3 hours later and you can have a nicely cooked chicken or roast. And it's a healthy way to cook it.

For the amount of trouble it is, I would rather pick up a bird from Costco or Sam's.

Just my thoughts. Haven't considered Sous Vide for whole bird, but I'm very pro Sous Vide right now.

I just wonder how long it takes to pay for itself versus just buying rotisserie chickens at the store.

I think the average difference is $1-3 raw vs. cooked. The key with the oven is you can get it freshly cooked and seasoned the way you like. You can also do different cuts and different meats.

Wonder the max poundage that it can do effectively?

It's not worth the counter space or clean up to do it myself.

Too easy to just sous vide.

Hell no. I buy rotisserie chickens from Costco for $4.99. I do have a $250 Breville toaster oven, which has reduced by big oven usage immensely.

Seems like a great cooked rotisserie chicken is cheaper than a raw frozen chicken.

Cons.
Cost (machine, electricity, raw chicken is almost the same price as cooked)
Counter space
Clean up
Prep
Wait 2 hours for to cook a chicken

Pros
You can season a Chicken your way

Good breakdown there!

I might peruse some goodwills and if they have one, it'd be cheaper.

+1, both on the Costco roasted chickens and the Breville TO. Made a dozen cupcakes in the Breville yesterday afternoon in less time than it takes the big oven to preheat.

We have one we inherited from my in-laws when they moved. I've cooked pork roasts, chickens, and small turkeys in it and they all came out awesome. Turkeys have to be under 12 lbs--10 lbs fit better but it's hard to find whole turkeys that small. While I do occasionally pick up a pre-made rotisserie chicken from Costco or Sam's, I always feel like those birds have way too much sodium to be that healthy. Seasoning/cooking them myself I can control that a lot better.

iIMO, it isn't that difficult to clean, but storing it is a bitch. That's the only reason we don't use it more often--'cause it can't stay on our counter and it has to be stashed in an inconvenient spot.

I doubt I would've ever paid full price for it either.
