I just buy cases of soda at Costco before parties. Not sure why someone would want to deal with that mess.

Because it’s novel and fun. If the OP wants to fool with cleaning the lines, so be it.

FYI: the lines do not need flushing unless changing flavors. Even then, it's really only strong flavors that need it, such as root beer. Cleaning the dispenser is a different story but that's not hard.

You will want to clean the lines. Nasty shite grows in there. I’ve heard clean once a month and change once a year.

I cleaned my keg lines atleast every two weeks or after every keg change. Simple systems are easy and lines are cheap.
