Do you consider cod a “fishy” cut?

Seems like every time I get fresh cod from Costco, it has a rather noticeable fishy smell when opened. It’s not that prevalent after cooking and tastes good. But the smell is strong and sticks to my fingers when raw.

Is this just a cod thing or should I avoid the Costco ones?

Not at all. I would consider it mild.

Buy extra lemons next time. Use the juice on your hands after you wash. It completely eliminates the lingering smell.

the Moroccan midget cod is the fishiest fish of all the fish

It's extremely rare

Agree totally! The three times I have gotten cod at Costco it ends up smelling foul. My family won’t eat it and yes I cook it the same day I bought it.

Just odd that it’s fishy when all their other seafood is fine.

I grabbed some a couple of weeks ago b/c it was the freshest thing they had. They said they got it 45min prior.... never again!

I’ve never bought it before, but that was the over the top fishy smelling. I couldn’t get it out of my house for 3 days. It tasted fine, but the smell was crazy. It was the first and last time I’ll buy it. If I want cheap fish, I’ll stick to the farm raised catfish.
