Another vote for August. Definitely best for your anniversary and location imho. Another favorite of mine is Gautreau's, excellent for special occasion but its uptown and not super close to Girod.

I second Herbsaint. Not in your area but Atchafalaya is worth a cab ride if you want to branch out.
