I'm heading to Dickie Brennan's this weekend for the first time, usually go elsewhere for steaks in the city. What do you recommend, and is there anything I should stay away from?

The BBQ ribeye sounds interesting, but I'm not sure how I feel about having a prime steak done that way.

Suggestions? Comments?

Good place, tough to go wrong w/ any of the steaks in my opinion. Haven't had the BBQ ribeye, but can vouch for both the filet and the strip.

If you don't know quite what to get, order the House Filet becuase it will give you a nice spread of things to try (steak, oysters, creamed spinach, bernaise, etc).

Of the appetizers, I'm partial to the oysters and the turtle soup. Enjoy

Thanks, I'm a big fan of Turtle Soup, so I was planning on trying that. I love a good strip, but would rather it broiled than pan seared. Does anyone know how often they have the cowboy ribeye special?

yeah, bailing for a while. Need some fresh air and it's a great project. In my industry i have to put in some time in Cali to be taken seriously. I'll do this one project and get out. Figure may as well do it while the economy sucks.

And no intentions of making Cali "home". that will still be NOLA, NY, or maybe San Marcos/New Braunfels/Austin.

Tigre, I noticed that the bone-in is not on the menu, but is often talked about as a special. Do you know how often they do this?

hmm, not sure. I've been twice and ordered it both times. I would assume it's offered pretty often, but i really don't know.

A blood relative of mine is one of the managers there. I will text him and ask him what is considered the best there and post.

Thanks man...I had to be a broken record, but if you could ask him if they'll be having the bone-in ribeye this saturday I would really appreciate it.

Whatever steak goes good with their Abita Select beer on tap, get that.

OK, here's what my relative said in text:

"The house filet 8 oz. with hollandaise and fried oysters."

Sounds tough to pass up!

My selection the last 5 times I've been there. Also, the fried Portobella Mushroom is very good.

I love the BBQ Ribeye but only get it if skipping apps, light on the wine. It is a ton of food.

If I am in it for the nite, I love the escargot, and the wedge to start and either the fish or the 8 ounce house filet.
