I'm contemplating getting a 1/2 or 1/4 cow.
Anybody know of places near DFW that sells bulk?

I'd also like to get some Chicken and pork and if anybody has recommendations on getting that as well.
Thank you for any info or advice.

You can use Barn2Door to search for farms in your area. I’m sure most of these places have Facebook pages so you can search their names and see reviews by people.

Hirsch’s meat market in Plano. I’m certain you can buy bulk beef here. I’m not 100% on chicken or pork.

Thank you guys, I'll do just that.
I've heard of Hirschs.
I had a friend use The Rail in East Texas, but you had to have already bought a cow from a rancher

I raise cattle in Oklahoma but I personally know and can vouch for a Texas outfit called Keeton Beef. They have good beef and are even better people.

They are in Fannin County but they take beef to the McKinney Farmer's Market. Either way, it's worth it. They dry age for 14-21 days.

On their whole, halves and quarters you have to order in advance.

If i remember correctly (99% sure) that they slaughter and dry age those orders for 14-21 days then they go to Fischer's Meat Market in Muenster for processing. Fischer's is top notch.

As far as chickens, you're going to have a hard time finding bulk unless you do it yourself. I raise meat chickens and the meat is fantastic. If you don't live in the city, look into raising Cornish Cross meat chickens. They grow stupid fast so I raise a batch in the spring and another in the fall.

El Segundo Guy, looks like Keeton are grass fed and finished on silage. What sort of meat does that produce?
The family likes the marbling and milder flavor of grain finished. I'm curious what silage does to the meat.
