Ok. How should we approach the 4th ingredient thread?
Take new nominations? Choose from the old nominations? Open vote.
Thoughts wanted.
Restart it on the next page .. update thread title. no need for another thread

Personally I think another thread is needed. Especially since this is 10 pages in.

I also think it won't be a "Curveball" Ingredient as I had anticipated.
I think we need to limit to suggestions to either something "basic" or maybe readily available vegetables/fruits, something like that. Thoughts?
We can do whatever you guys want to do.

Think peppermint candy should suffice as curveball?

I think MD should pick 5 from the list of items on the first page and then the rest of us vote. First food item to 5 votes becomes the 4th ingredient.

Works for me. I say any 5 that were NOT in the final 6.
MD you still around?

If MD doesn't check in by 3, I'm going to pick 5 ingredients.
You guys will then vote on them.
Ingredient with the most votes by tomorrow morning will be the winner.

Five options - Chosen from:
Mayo - Vinegar - Mac & Cheese - Persimmon - Duck - Liver - Chicken Drummettes - Pickled Eggs - Pizza Dough - Oxtail - Oysters - Quinoa - Sauerkraut - Olives - Canned sardines - Turnip root - Grapefruit - Dried banana chips - grocery store sushi - salmon - ground turkey - chia seeds
lentils - feta cheese - pimentos - Egg Nog - Horseradish - Vienna Sausages (BBQ Flavor) -
Ramen - Chioggia Beets - Goat cheese - Pomegranate - Turkey Neck - Bacon - Satsumas - Short ribs - Russian Imperial Stout - Figs - Raisins - Hoisin Sauce - Spam - Egg whites
Turkey - Ginger - Maple syrup - Crunchy peanut butter - Can of creamed corn - Tofu - Grapes - Cauliflower - Tomatoes - Truffle oil - Sirloin of beef
My understanding is we wanted two proteins. I also thought some folks wanted a Christmas slant - and that led to my Peppermint choice, which from my reading may wind up being the weird ingredient.
1 - Can of Creamed Corn
2 - Sirloin of Beef
3 - Lentils
4 - Pizza Dough
5 - Russian Imperial Stout
Should be interesting
The three already in play are:
Chorizo, Shiitake Mushrooms, Peppermint Candy
A question:
May we produce a full dinner plate as in some combination of the following, Appetizer, entrée, dessert or are we limited to producing only one of the items listed?
I am honestly confused by the comments and rule changes for this second round.

I don't understand why we want 2 proteins.

The "weird" ingredient isn't weird if you can do this. Put peppermint in the dessert and it's not weird at all.

Russian Imperial Stout +1

We wanted 2 proteins in the 6, one protein for the entire thing.
My vote is Pizza Dough +1.

You can, for sure, but I think you will get less votes than if you made a single, cohesive dish.
I know I wouldn't vote for someone that did that.

Russian Imperial Stout +1
Or just stout in general.
Or just stout in general.

Looks like Stout may run away with this. 2 more votes and its in.

So the objective is to put together one dish? Or one course? Not a full meal, or peppermint would be a lot easier, right?
Posted on 12/4/13 at 2:26 pm to LSUBoo
The objective is to put together an "Entree" "Appetizer" or "Dessert".
One of those. Whatever that means to you.
