Cooking A Ham

I have an oil less fryer. I have cooked a ham before in it and it turned out well. I am thinking about doing another ham in it but use an injection like you would a turkey. Like a cake injector or something like that. Has anyone ever done that with a ham? What are your thoughts?

Are you talking a fresh ham?? if so I have injected em and put em on the pit. a processed ham we usually boil em then in the oven for a bit makes wonderful stock and cuts down on the salt in the ham.

My BIL injected a Kentucky Legend half ham with Tony’s Creole Butter. I thought he had lost his mind, but that thing turned out good.
I’m starting to realize I grew up eating salty food, so you know, take it with a grain of salt.

I inject with maple syrup and liquid smoke. Put in disposable pan with more syrup/smoke and place in smoker until temp reaches 130.

Never tried injecting. I usually get a spiral sliced ham a couple of times a year and put it on the Primo, over a water pan, for about 3 hours or until it reaches the temp I want. I baste it with a Cherry-Jalapeno BBQ sauce during the last 30 minutes.
It doesn't soak up a lot of smoke flavor, being already cooked, but we like the result better than one done in the oven, plus it frees up the oven for sides.

That sauce sounds interesting. Do you make it yourself or buy it?
