Anyone have any experience with these? Are they reliable? Can you connect to a big propane tank or can you only use the mini green ones?

We went to New Orleans on a church trip, working with a group in The Treme. We were cooking hamburgers for the kids at a park there and one of the guys brought that grill. He had propane bottles and I brought three. We were there most of a Saturday and cooked maybe 300 hamburgers on the grill. It worked fine for that. Maybe 500 hot dogs also on the same grill.

We used the small bottles, but I have never seen any grill like that that didn't have the ability to hook it to a tank with a hose and adaptor. I probably have one in my tool chest that would have worked.

I had a bigger propane Home sized grill and we never tok it out of my truck. The grill is small, but we made it work just fine grilling burgers and dogs. Won't do everything a big grill does, I'm sure.

They work really good. LSUBoo used to cook for an entire tailgate on one. And yes, you can get an adapter off Amazon, there’s also an adapter to refill the small bottles from your standard one.

Thanks that’s the answer I was looking for! Looks easy to pack up for a vacation/beach/tailgate

I have a heater that runs on the green canisters and can also be hooked to a big propane tank BUT it requires a filter in the hose to the big tank. Read the manual and make sure you have all the pieces you need.

Lowes had the filters when I rigged it up years back.
