The fact that fricking mcdonalds chicken nuggets are getting so much votes show how far this group has fallen.

Agreed Lambda. A handful of idiots are ruining the challenges. They gave Darla hell with the fiesta and she was happy to hand it over when she got busy.
The challenges were a fun part of this board and those of us who take them seriously need to call out those who are ruining it. If you want to have a humorous thread about the challenge, create a new thread and have all the foolish posts you want.
I loved the challenges because I had fun creating odd dishes. Nobody says you can't have fun, but we do expect you to keep the immature foolishness and insults to other posters to the OT.
The rules are simple. If you cannot follow them correctly, don't cry about it.
quote:
Who decides it's nonsensical?
The person who is taking the time to run the current challenge may use common sense to decide if the dish is nonsensical. Mr. Johnsonville even said in a now deleted post that he posted his crawfish as a joke. He said it and now it's deleted. But, his dish did contain citrus fruit and was a real dish, so I included it, joke or not, it met the criteria.
As far as Mr. Johsonville's short sidekick, he had no citrus fruit in his recipe, plain and simple. "Your dish must contain citrus fruit" is the fundamental rule. Using citric acid and using the word "orange" in your title does not make your dish contain citrus fruit.
If you disagree, then by all means, take a turn at running a challenge yourself. Stop hijacking the challenge threads and making the serious posters want to stop participating.
If you enjoy these challenges, then you need to speak up and urge the idiots to go away and/or start their own thread. I for one enjoy them and I now want to make a lemon custard and lemon pepper wings. For these reasons, I don't want the challenges to go away, but if the real posters don't call out the foolishness, nothing will change.

He used Johsonville saysage instead of manda. But really i don't think brand matters and i do think adding orange and oj to the boil helps alot with flavor.

I've always enjoyed the cooking challenges from afar. They were better when you all had ten or more people participating. They showed creativity and inspired me to try a few and replicate a few of the dishes. I never participated so I don't know if it became overwhelming, stale, or the lack of interest. I have noticed a few who participated early on no longer do, which kinda bites in the long run.

I used to do almost all... even though there are more talented home cooks here and better photographers.
Life gets busy.. was intending to join this one but never got around to it. Hopefully the next one.
Will gummy worms count?

The answer is in your question
Posted on 6/11/25 at 2:32 pm to Midget Death Squad
you will of course run a fair and impartial challenge correct?

Absolutely. I will count ALL submissions, not just the ones that only I like. I will not flail around and attempt to say “worms” aren’t “worms” in the same way someone is trying to say orange isn’t citrus

he didn’t “cook”
Nor did baloney cook his fish. I cooked my beautiful sauce though over an open flame
