What’s the F&D Forum’s consensus on the Chinese Kitchen?

Personally, I might be just hypnotized from nostalgia of my youth or maybe the egg rolls are just that good.

No other restaurant would I even put up with a quarter of the shenanigans that await once I finally secure a parking spot to make the trek inside.

Just curious if it is smile or frowned upon here.

They have the best hot and sour soup I have ever eaten.

Their egg rolls are also the best.

If you go, go early to reduce your chances of it being your last meal.

They are perfect quintessential old school Chinese-American egg rolls. They are so great.

Pretty much every old school Chinese restaurant up until the late 1980s or so used to make some basic version of what you can still get there. Over the years, more and more places stopped making them, such that they've become like unicorns.

Why won't more places make them like that anymore?!?!

Ah the days of trying to eat a meal while people in line to order takeout watched your every move - good times.

That place has to be in that spot for at least 50+ years... I remember as a kid my dad taking me to City Park on Saturdays to run around...

CK had one of those portable sign that was lite up and you could stick the letters on to form words... Someone rearrange the letters to spell "Chinese $hit".. I started laughing and pointed it out to my dad who didn't find it funny...

I've heard their Yaka Mein is very good.

I would have to say the egg rolls are delicious, but I have had them that were literally dripping in grease.

I haven't been in decades but as a kid it was the family go to spot for Chinese. The egg rolls were great and nothing like egg rolls today. It had a heap of their pork inside. Now most eggrolls are tiny, full of cabbage and itty bitty pieces of "some kind of meat."

Haven’t been in years, but when I lived in New Orleans, CK and Five Happiness were so good.
