I work in the West Loop and I think it could be a fun place to live, but expensive...

As someone that just turned 31 today, I'd have no issue living in West Loop. It's a lot of fun - I'm down there a couple times each month, whether it's grabbing dinner or day drinking. Great mix of casual and upscale, but lively with companies moving in and high-rise condos / apartments opening for lease and sales. Granted I'm not single, but there's massive appeal for a single guy in West Loop. So many good looking women.

That said, it can get expensive to live in the middle of it all. You could live in River West and walk to West Loop. shite, you could live in West Town and walk there, but it'd be a little further. Alternatively, you can live in Wicker, Bucktown and Logan and take the Blue Line to Grand. Me, personally, I live right near the California Blue Line station. Door-to-door, I can be to Girl & The Goat, for example, in less than 25 minutes.

Soooooooooo......I might be going back to Chicago pretty soon.

Looks like a won some giveaway on instagram from a new hotel downtown. Waiting to see if actual and real..

98% sure it is real. If so, will make another quick trip and be less eventful since this would be the 3rd trip in 3 years.. and me and the wife did all the touristy stuff last go around, then I just did it with my son...so this trip would be just relax hit a cubs game and rooftop it.. maybe find a way to get on the water.

Pendry hotel? 2 night stay/dinner/brunch/$100 credit...... pretty sweet. Believe it just opened 2 weeks ago? We stayed near there this past weekend and it looked pretty awesome.

Looks like a good location for a visitor. Most like to stay downtown, so you're walking distance to the parks, Michigan Ave and the Riverwalk. However, you're right near all the train lines, too, which gives you plenty of flexibility to get into the Chicago neighborhoods.

Thats what was clutch about our hotel we had this past weekend, we stayed off of E Wacker at one of the Hilton Properties. Was easy in and out and close to everything.

Truly value the use of the train system...when me and my wife went on our trip we never used it and only saw the Chicago Theatre sign once... vs me and my son using the Lake/State stop near the Chicago Theatre so many times.. can't count how many times we passed that sign..

The public transportation is pretty top notch. We drove way more during the height of the pandemic because with less people out and about, finding parking was way easier. But now we're back to using it a lot more. Thankfully we're close to the Red and Brown lines, as well as bus stops that bring us easily East or West.

As someone else said, the Uber situation is out of control right now. I have found some success using the Curb app (think the Uber app, but for taxis). But that was hit and miss this past weekend.

All of this. I live just outside the city and when I go in it takes forever to get an Uber and prices are outrageous

I've been to several great places, can't remember them all but was recommended to go to Ditka's. Very good.

Just got back.

Had Sepia one night - was very impressed. Might've been our favorite meal.

Purple Pig and Little Goat were great as well.

Did Lou Malnatti's and Portillo's just to be a tourist - probably wouldn't get either again.

Gene & Georgetti's was probably the most underwhelming meal of the trip. Just was not a good steak. Other's had some of the Italian dishes and weren't very impressed either.

Next time I'll look for better, lesser known places for pizza, dogs, and steak.
