Have you used it before?

Mine are in need and I was just wondering what I needed to get...id rather not do it via a stone and the proper angle and all that....but wasn't sure how the auto options worked.

I got one of these for Christmas a couple years ago. It works great!! My knives are as sharp as they need to be.

I think you'll be pleased with it. I've used one for 20+ years and it still works great. The magnets hold the knife at the correct angle so all you have to do is drag it through the sharpening stones. It's foolproof.

Thats what im looking for. I don't need the sharpest it can be...but sharp enough. I hone my blades often but have not sharpened so im sure they could use it.

I am curious how it would work on any serrated ones I have...

My blades are pretty damned sharp. A Japanese sword master might be able to get them sharper but they're plenty sharp enough. I haven't tried it on serrated knives and I don't think it would work all that well. I don't think the sharpening stones would reach the serrated cuts in the blade.

I only give it thought becasue it claims it can.

Interesting. Maybe I'll give it a try. I think I only own 1 serrated knife - a bread knife. On my sharpener, the stones are flat (actually diamond-coated ceramic, not stone) so I don't see how they could reach into the scalloped serrations. Maybe the newer models are different.
