What are some of the best places in NOLA that do this? How much it is typically per person and how exactly is it set up?

Commander's is the best, IMHO

This is what I heard as well.
Weekend reservations seem to be booked 6 or 7 months out at a minimum.
We have reservations for a Saturday in March. Booked it this past May.

Square Root just opened and was created exactly for this reason. I would look there first.
Revolution offers this as well.
This is a pricey way to dine, but should be worth it for the culinary adventurous. Probably $150+/head, may or not include tax, tip, drinks.

I've always heard that. And having to book it so far out is why I've never done it. How many people do you need for it?
Also, I'd love details from anyone who's done it.

How much per head for Commanders? The other guy said $150/head, thats not bad at all. And how is this set up, and what all does it include?

We offer a twelve to fifteen course tasting on Friday and Saturday for $150 per person INCLUSIVE of tax and service charge. The total price of the experience includes: Dinner $115.61 + Tax $11.27 + Service Charge $23.12 = $150 per person.
Beverages are not included and will be billed the night you dine.
WHAT ARE BEVERAGE PAIRING OPTIONS?
We offer optional beverage pairings. Beverage pairings are billed per person the night you dine. The Sommelier’s Wine Pairing is $95 per person and the Reserve Wine Pairing is $150 per person. That's really not bad considering grat is included.

I've done this at Emeril's twice and it was terrific both times. I have no idea what the cost was. We had 4 people both times and both times were on a Sunday night. I think we probably planned it about a month out. You have the option of pairing wines, but we didn't do that.
We had an amuse and 5 courses plus dessert. It was a lot of food. The 5 courses were more like small plates for the most part with some larger than others. The chef asked us if we had any special requests both times. On at least one occasion, we requested a few items we really like. And, on one occasion, someone ordered from the menu. They didn't require that everyone at the table participate. I don't know if that's still the rule.
In any event, it was terrific both times and I'd do it again there in a heartbeat. It was fun and delicious!!!!

Many of the nicer restaurants in town have some variation on this style of dining.
The chef will create a full menu, or a list of items that you can choose. You need to do this at least a few weeks in advance.
Just start calling your favorite restaurants and see what they are willing to consider.

Yes. We had four and spent about 300 bucks a person.

For $300 a person I'm assuming you did the premium wine pairing with each course??
Posted on 7/23/14 at 11:23 am to notiger1997
Yes we did .. Like 7 or 8 bottles of wine ...

I've always wanted to do the commanders chef table. I keep hinting at my husband, but I guess I will just go ahead and make the reservations myself......for next year.
