As someone who enjoys fine dining, and has eaten at Le Bernardin, that price tag is offensive. Eric has 3 stars and his tasting course is 375. I don't enjoy how much little E is being forced on us.
Well it sold out in a day. So most would argue it was underpriced.
Again, its a special event. 35th anniversary with 3 Chefs there.

I worked with EJ in Destin. I really hope he’s matured since I worked with him.

quote:He's a genuinely good dude. I used to eat at Le Bernardin sort of regularly when they offered a three course lunch in the lounge for $45. You can't officially reserve tables in the lounge, it's for walk ins, but every now and then when I stopped in for lunch there would be an unopened bottle of wine on the table in the corner. One day I asked a waiter what that was about and he told me it was how they reserved a table in the lounge for long time regulars. The next time I had lunch there, Ripert was in the lounge talking to an elderly couple sitting at the table in the corner that frequently had a bottle of wine on it. He must have talked to them for a half hour. When he finished his conversation with the elderly couple, he walked by my table on his way to the kitchen. I was the only other person eating in the lounge and was just sitting there watching him walk by when he suddenly stopped and told me hello, asked me how I was doing, and thanked me for coming in to have lunch with them that day. As sincere and natural as could be. I had zero expectation that he was going to talk to me so I was kind of stupified, but it was a really gracious and hospitable thing for him to do.
always liked that guy
