my wife bought some of those 'grass fed organic' ribeyes from aldis in the little green vacu-packs and i told her they weren't ribeyes.

she argued with me and we cooked them anyway. they were fricking sirloins.

nothing against sirloins, but she actually asked me 'how do you know?' there is not a red-blooded american male in this country who can't tell the difference between a sirloin steak and a ribeye.

i'm ok with sirloin generally; as long as i know that's what i'm eating but these had very little fat and were just chewy as frick. we ended giving them to the dogs.

i grilled ribeyes the next day and asked her if she could tell the difference.

eta i'm just gonna CSB myself on this one

If you eat at those places expecting quality, you deserve whatever they slap on the plate.

That's arrogant. These places thrive in areas where no "real" steakhouses exist. Atlanta proper certainly has proper steakhouses, as do major cities, but many places don't. I don't think those people should be ripped off, and they don't deserve to be ripped off.

Opposite experience for me.

We had a little pool party/grill out at my buddies. He had some ribeyes that he grilled and they were great. Asked him where he got them.... Aldis.

And as long as I'm paying for sirloin and not ribeye.

And for 1/3 the price. Longhorn has some good steaks.

Fair enough. I was speaking more to expectations at PE-owned chains.
