I keep adding cereal until the milk is gone, making sure I optimally control the amount of milk in each spoonfull.

It depends what it is. If it's CTC or Frosted Flakes or something, yeah of course. I don't actually drink it though, I spoon it out.
If it's like oatmeal squares or honey bunches of oats, I ration it so there isn't much leftover and pour it out
