A friend just gave me his Bradley smoker. How long will it take to smoke a 5.5 lb pork butt on it?

That really depends on the temperature at which you cook it...

Butts are done when they are done. Cook to temp... Not Time. Don't go. Too high on the temp maybe 225. Best results dry brine for 24 hours before smoking. My guess is you are looking at 10-11 hour smoke if done right.

turns out I’m gonna be a little pressed for time. Will 4 hours in the smoker at 225 and 2 hours in the oven at 225 do the job?

Unfortunately I can’t. It’s for a birthday party. And to top it all, I’m in Minneapolis where it’s snowing like crazy.

I would just have it catered in at this point.

Well if you have to do it, crank the grill up to 300. The butt will be ok, its an extrremely flexible meat. Even if the meat doesnt get to 190 where it will pull, youll be able to chop it.

No joke. Fortunately it’s kind of a pot luck thing so if it gets screwed up, we have other stuff....

I am smoking chicken wings too. Anyone have any tips on that? I was just gonna do some jerk wings at 250 for a couple hours
