Looks like they probably over extended themselves with the Broussard location, which couldn't have opened at at a worse time.

Damn, no kidding. The one downtown had the best smothered pork chop/rice/cream peas/crunchless potato salad special on Fridays. Never went the new one out on 90.

Sad news

The one in Broussard was confusing. It's like they wanted it to be fine dining with the prices but had tv's on the walls and people were in exercise clothes. They told me they were going to put video poker in the bar area when I was in there. No idea if they ever did or not. The food was ok.

Just bought a beer coozie on Saturday for Festival Int. Is it now a collectors item and worth more than the dollar I paid for it?

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I remember it definitely aiming for a nicer vibe when it first opened. I think they probably went away from that when oil went into the shitter.

The economy is substantially better than it was 5 years ago. They could have at least come up with a better excuse.

Antlers was like a knock-off Walk-Ons but with better food. Their locations killed them. The people were great and the food was good.

Even with somewhat of an improvement, both locations had problems. Broussard spot is ground zero of the oil bust & the downtown location has more lunch time competition than ever.

NIH: Similar prices and atmosphere. Not super high-end food like Ruffinos or Charlie G's.

The downtown one was a typical, old school plate lunch kinda place.

Broussard spot was not really like Walk-Ons

16oz Hand Cut Ribeye* $42
Custom aged signature ribeye is a richly marbled cut with a succulent soft bite and sweet beef flavor.

Blackend Mahi Mahi $37
Mahi Mahi dusted in our house blackening seasoning and topped with a lump crab white wine butter sauce; served with Antlers grit cake and creamed spinach.

Seared Tuna* $29
Whole tuna loin hand cut in house, seared to temp then topped with ponzu relish and served with a cheddar grit cake and grilled zucchini.

Shrimp Caesar $16
Fresh Romaine with house made Caesar dressing, parmesan cheese, sliced egg and Poupart’s French bread garlic croutons.

Not sure what part of this screams walk-ons.

Hate to hear this. Downtown location was always solid for lunch.

Indeed. I was told that Mortimer has readied the compound for the summer.
