Posted on 4/19/11 at 5:10 pm to Winkface

So is your recipe a lie or do you not know how many ounces are in a pound?
Why are you such a dickbag on every board? I use the standard 1lb, 10 oz box of salt found in every grocery store on earth. Annnnd...GASP...... I use 3 of them. That's the way I've been doing them for over a decade and that's the way my entire family has been doing them for generations. We like them no matter what some know it all message board frickstick thinks. Peace.

Im a dick because Im pointing out the FACT that you use over 1 pound more salt than the saltiest complete crab boil on the market for 1 sack of crawfish.
mmmmkay buddy... whatever.

Why don't you tell us how the crawfish came out and how you cooked them?

Nope. You just always act like anyone that ever does/thinks something different from you is the dumbest person alive. No need for that shite.... that's all. It's just crawfish for Christ's sake.

For the record, I have a buddy who uses around 2.5 boxes of salt in his boil for about 40 lbs. I will say that he uses a good bit of water and a shite ton of veggies that soak up a lot of it, but his salinity is always perfect. Shake off the haters, brah.

When it comes to TD arguments, how to boil crawfish on the f&d board is only a short distance behind anything Rex usually says on the poli board.

I was really just confused about the amount of salt listed and asked if it was a typo..
In the past Tigerdew said he used 2.5-3 pounds of salt in his recipe.. Thats a big difference than 78oz of salt which is almost 5 pounds of salt.
Normally people say X boxes of salt or X containers of salt. Not X pounds of salt and if they say X pounds of salt then they are talking about the actual weight in pounds not the number of boxes of salt.

How on earth are y'all cooking potatoes in 10-15min? Granted I've never done a boil under 50lbs but at a roaring boil it takes me atleast 45+min to get potatoes to where they aren't raw in the middle and I'm using professional burners. Corn also takes around 25min.
And for the OP, I put in all my seasoning/onions/bay leaves/lemons at the beginning bring pot to a boil. Put potatoes in for around 45 corn at the 25mark sausage at the 15mark then crawfish at the very last second and I turn off the burners for this. My crawfish isn't great but I've never had any complaints.

Sweet baby Jesus.... just let it go already. It's 3 boxes. It was a typo as I left off the 10 ozs. Sheesh.

So when you said before that it was 2.5-3 pounds of salt was that a typo?
This wasnt the first time you gave this recipe.

45 minutes? You sure about that? If you let any potato stay in a rolling boil for that long I'd think it would be turned to mush no?

Posted on 4/20/11 at 10:40 am to hiltacular
If you want really spicy potatos you can cut in half instead of leaving whole. 45min seems like a really long time even whole..
