Nah, it was a little more troubling than that, but it was a long time ago.

Calvin's should open up a restaurant/eatery where Dearman's is at now. They could have 2 separate businesses at Bocage Village.

I saw a news story about this and have a few comments:

1. The location may have been nostalgic, but access right there sucks. Seems like they could relocate, still retain their loyal customers, and possibly attract new ones with better access.

2. The property manager or owner that was interviewed about not renewing the lease came off as an a-hole with his demeanor. He was just short of smiling about it.

Could be that the owners of Dearmans were shitty tenants and he is happy he could finally rid himself of them.

That is quite a possibility but he could have very easily simply said that it was just a decision they made, then maybe capped it with "I hope they recover and continue their business". It was the "shite eating grin" kinda thing that irritated me.

For the record, I know no one connected with either side and have only eaten there once.

The Advocate article is interesting.

LINK

I haven't found anything yet where Richardson said there were compliance issues which Van Gelder denies or that the neighbors didn't like it there. What really interested me was Van Gelder's claim that Richardson wanted to know if the name was for sale.
