Blue Oak is so good. I went to Central City BBQ today. $53 for two people is atrocious. The sliced brisket was chewy and dry. The burnt ends were good but not traditional and nothing to write home about. Sides were meh. Definitely won’t be going back there.

I should’ve. I was in the neighborhood for work and figured I’d give it a try. The place is cool but the food was not. Sauces were pretty good.

Blue Oak uses a fried boneless skinless thigh for the sandwich, not a breast

Was really looking forward to this sandwich after seeing a picture last year. I was disappointed especially in the flavor of the sauce. If they changed the recipe since last year, maybe I’ll try it again. If not, I’ll get something else bc I do like Blue Oak. For the poster that mentioned, it is not like Nashville hot IMO.
I did have Saw’s in Birmingham recently as another poster mentioned. It was awesome.

Thanks, will have to try that one. I don't make it to Franklin very often. I'm more of a Princes/Boltons guy...
