This is the new wine bar on Laurel St. downtown (looks like old Wine Loft location). Anyone go over the weekend? How is the food/atmosphere?

When people start being original and stop hiring marketing firms to do all their work for them

Some friends and I went there this past weekend.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place; it looks so much nicer than the old Wine Loft. They have a nice wine selection and some really good appetizers. We had a cheese spread with our wine.

The place was much busier than I expected it to be. Wine Loft was always dead, Blend was packed after 1030. Although, there was a huge event going on downtown.

For the guys, our waitress was an OT9.

My only complaint was that they charges us for water. We didn't really want any and assumed it was free because they did not tell us that we would be charged for it. That pissed us off. Not that we had to pay for it, but at least let us know we will be paying for water.

Went a few weeks ago for a private event. It's much brighter and prettier now.. not a dark cave. Still not something I am certain will last long. It's hard for BR to support more than one wine bar, and the Loft in Perkins Rowe is pretty popular on it's own.

Been a few times and know the owner.

The sazerac and gingerita are signature mixed drinks.

very good too.

Really don't think that's the problem. These are 2 different areas of town. I think it's just the BR culture

We've been a couple of times. I like it a lot more than the Wine Loft. The place is laid out better, the staff knows their stuff, food was good.

I'm surprised you used Baton Rouge and culture in the same sentence. Maybe if they offered more wines poured out of a box? I remember asking in a bar here one time what wines they offered by the glass. Without batting an eye, the bartender said "white, red and pink". I tried to ignore the lob and didn't ask if the pink was half white and half red.

because of the people who live there or because the wine bars are shite?
