Been using cast iron pots for a while. Just scored a Griswold No. 9 pot yesterday. Gunna smother some pork later today in it. What’s your favorite black iron pot recipe

A good slow roasted beef or pork roast.

Which #9 did you get? Congratulations btw, they’re amazing pans.
There are four #9’s. A skillet, a deep skillet or chicken fryer, a Dutch oven and a massive oval roaster. Suggestions might depend on which you have.

Nice.

I have a #9 Griswold skillet but it is from after Wagner bought them.

Some things I have made in mine.

Ox Tails

Beef Bourguignon

Dutch oven Peach cobbler

Deer backstrap and regular beef in gravy

Chuck Roast of several types.

Roasted chicken several ways

Soups

I have turned the lid upside down and cooked biscuits in mine on a campfire. Old Boy Scout trick.

You did good. That’s a most versatile pan.

Everything MD said plus:
Smothered pork chops or chicken
Roasted chicken
BBQ shrimp
The list is near endless

Nothing like a great jambalaya made in my #10 Griswold dutchoven. You cannot get the finish on the rice in a normal aluminum pot

Plus my smaller BSR #8, I use for braising

Nice looking hardware. I like the symmetry in the handle on the big one.

Probably my favorite thing in my kitchen, and I have all kinds of new gadgets.

I basically got the #10 Griswold for free. I bought an entire collection (7 or 8 pieces) for $800 or something. Sold all the pieces except the #10 for the exact amount I spent, getting it for free.

You've got a good eye. You've done pretty well with wristwatches lately. I like your threads.

Ahhhh YEAH!

Love my cast iron, use it everyday.

My daily driver..

Just some random usage:

But one of my favorites is one of my smallest pieces.
My lil bacon grease holder!

*If I'm cooking, chances are there's cast iron involved.

theantiquetiger,

can you show the bottom of that #8 lid and oven.
That lid sure looks like a Lodge from the pic.
