its a busy street. shite, walk on the neutral ground. Ive seen white 20-something girls walking and biking there all the time

Yep. Take the canal street street car down to Jeff Davis and walk to Parkway. And hit the Bayou Beer garden on your way in or out. It would be good to get out of the french quarter during your visit.

Best shrimp Poboy is at Jimmys Spur gas station off of Gentily close to St. Bernard. You should call in and pick it up though.
