I want to boil crabs for my Dad for his birthday. I haven't lived in Abbeville since '91, so I don't know much around there anymore, other than I pick up some Richards boudin while there and usually eat at Shucks and Dupuys. Where's the best place to pick up a hamper of some live, heavy, select crabs? Thanks!

I'd get on the phone. there can't be more than 2-3 seafood markets in Abbeville OP.

Delcambre Direct
You can call the fishermen and get prices

D&T crawfish are good people as well

Yep, Delcambre is probably your best bet.

Correct - go to Delcambre.

And an fyi, Oteece's fried boudin balls are the best, period.

Never heard of it... where?
I always go to Richard's to get several packs of frozen boudin to take home. Then I get one piece hot to eat right away and some crackling for the ride home.

Call 30 minutes before you go and order you a dozen boudin egg rolls. Make sure to eat some while they are hot. Then come back here and thank me later.

I promise you won't be disappointed. People rave about Billy's, and other boudin, but Richards egg rolls are the best form of boudin I've ever eaten.

Oh, and get you Vincent's doughnuts as well. If you go early, or catch a fresh batch, it will be the best doughnut you've ever eaten in your life (of course you said you lived in Abbeville before, so you probably already know this).

The old guy that started Richard's - his first name is Oteece. The meat market next to VC.

Oh, I don't know their names but it seems like there is always an older couple cooking and then another older man running the register, same 3 people everytime I go. Always delicious!

If you lived in Abbeville and never had Vincent's then you missed out. Meches in abbeville is horrible.

Vincent's is now by the hospital, on charity street. Their shop is connected to an old closed gas station on the corner of charity and hospital Dr.

Vincent's wasn't in that spot when you lived in Abbeville. It was by St. Theresa.

So...how were the crabs, and where'd you get them from?

Boudin egg rolls? Vincent's donuts?

Boiled Sat night. My dad's 75th. Crabs were full and delicious! Got then from TLC on State st.
Boudin egg rolls were out of this world!
There was an massive rain and lightning storm just as we ate. It was choas moving everything but we stayed mostly dry!
