looking for a place that is NOT a Mexican restaurant that has top notch margaritas. and don't come in here saying Superior, if I wanted to drink margaritas at a restaurant, I would just go to Carreta"s

ETA: there you go freuax, sorry if I have offended what may, or may not be your actual heritage

Your house. Get some Agave nectar and a ton of limes. 2 parts tequila, 1 part lime juice, 1/2-3/4 part agave nectar.

This is how it's done at Tommy's Mexican restaurant in San Francisco, and it's hands down the best margarita you'll try. Put it in a shaker since the nectar doesn't want to dissolve. Tequila martini almost, but damn it's so darn good. Be prepared to get pie-eyed. I use Hornitos Reposado, but any GOOD (relative to wallet thickness) one will do.

wow. that is tough. the ONLY place I can think of that serves margarita's that isn't a Mexican restaurant is St. Joe's.

I just realized that I've never actually ordered a margarita from anywhere other than a Mexican restaurant!

Do you like frozen or on the rocks? Most sports bars are too busy to take the time to make a decent frozen drink.

I'm sure the upscale bars at some of the hotels downtown will do one right for you. Carousel Bar when not too busy, or the bars at the Roosevelt, W, or Ritz would probably make good ones.

you must have missed the not a restaurant part. if I wanted to go to a restaurant, it would be Caretta's, cause they are hands down the best margaritas in town

Uptown, then? I've never been, but that new place on Oak -> "Oak", looks fancy enough to take pride in a margarita.

There's always Delachaise. Not sure if they make good ritas but at least it's a grown up's bar. Monkey Hill might do you right.

Oak specializes in wines, but they might make a good one. Might just head up to Cure and see what they mix up

This thread is making me want to go drinking. Instead of a margarita, though, I'm in the mood for a top notch bloody mary. Whatcha got?

Molly's. Its the splash of guinness that puts it over the top.

Back when I lived uptown, St Joe's had the absolute best margaritas in the city. Fresh squeezed lime juice, they were great.
