The owners do, the waitresses didn't speak any English. But the waitresses were hot.

Been to Mi Reyna's (sp?) on Perkins a couple of times and it was excellent IMO.

La Reyna is my favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge.

Even though I don't keep kosher, they're the only kind I eat (with Nathan's as an exception on days I'm feeling feisty.)

My waitress had a tight shirt w/ an extremely prominent gut and muffin top. It was not a good thing to look at while eating.

El Rio Grande is doing homemade salsa. Has the best guacamole anywhere. Tex-mex done right.

And Aztecas that you recommended has been closed for months. I liked some of their dishes, like the Queso Flameado, but nobody went there.

That's what the owner says.

My friends and I got a big to-go order there a couple of months ago. They took a few bites of chips and salsa and said, "this tastes exactly like the stuff from the store."

The son has been running it for a while. Some would argue it was better when his old man was.

Speaking of oldest restaurants, La Fonda is the oldest Mexican place here in BR. I think the only people who have love for it are the 40+ crowd that grew up in BR.

I know the old salsa was store-bought. But within the last month or so, I've gotten homemade salsa there. Similar to Superior. Don't know if they'll stay with the recipe or not.

Son and father share the kitchen there. Father is the old pro.

I tried LaFonda's again for the first time in many, many years. Very bad food. Probably similar to it's old recipes, but when it was in its prime, Baton Rouge had nothing to compare it to.

The steak with onions served up with fried plantains is money. I eat the chicken dishes most of the time (with red sauce or mole), but the bistec is my special occasion meal.

If people want to get full, they need to try the chuleta dish. Two juicy, seasoned pork chops served up with black beans and rice, salad and tortillas.

Coyote blue has an awesome stuffed poblano pepper, which is how i judge mexican restaurants, or tex-mex for you really cool sophisticated white guys that need to differentiate.

Bistec w/ the Tostones on the side make my soul smile. Always get Pupusa or Pastelitos on the side.

Yeah.

I judge a Latin restaurant's authenticity by how many kids are running around the dining area

Was in El Paste Dorado on Florida, hadn't been there in a few years. Walked in, saw a crib in the middle of the dining area. Immediately grabbed a seat knowing I was in for a treat.
