I know I'm in the minority but I just don't get why so many people love Fat Tire. Its not bad at all but it just doesn't live up to the hype.

I saw that a few Rogue beers were recommended. I'm guessing a lot of people pass it up because they think its crappy beer being pushed by a small celibrity but I highly recommend Captain Sig's Northwestern Ale by Rogue. I've been getting a bottle almost weekly.

Kapuziner Hefeweizen Weissbier. best beer I have had in awhile. You can find it at Marcellos on Perkins. Comes in an individual 25oz. bottle

Is NOLA beer bottled yet, or is it only on draft?

Not bottled yet. They have been putting out pretty good beers, and their Hopitoulas IPA is coming out this weekend.

Most of the above are great suggestions. I like Boddington's. It's a British ale that has the body of Guinness, but it's a tad lighter. When you pour it, it looks really heavy, but it goes down like butter.

Good beer. I used to love their Younger's YSB but they quit making it for some reason.

theres a reason they only sell it in a 4 pack

This is so very true...I had a single one the other night, and that was plenty. That beer just has some kind of power which others don't have!

You sound like you may be a hop-head
meaning you like the ales and pale ales, and the IPA
which is not a bad thing . . .
quote:

Full Sail Amber and IPA (there pale ale is not that great)
Lagunitas IPA and Censored
Left Hand Sawtooth Ale
(very balanced between hops n malts)
Unibroue Maudite and La Fin du Monde
Stone Pale Ale (best pale ale IMO) their IPA is ok
Westmalle Dubbel
Ommengang Abbey Ale
Brooklyn Brown ale and Local no. 1

(and most Paulaner brews)
this list poster by the other poster, would be a good starting point

---
But when you're ready to come over to the dark side, you should try

Tilburg Dutch Brown Ale

Xingu Brazilian Black Beer

Asahi Japanese Black

St Bernardus Abt 12

Kapuziner Schwarz-Weizen

This is a very small selection of good dark beers.
Don't be afraid to try the dark beer, some are strikingly smooth!!!!

I am an admitted Hop addict. But I like the occassional dubbel or double bock (salvatore). I drank 6 Maredsous 8s (8% each = 10 regular beers) Friday night. I crashed my bicycle 3 times on the ride home.

I had some Maredsous 8s on tap at either the Flying Saucer in Ft. Worth or Little Rock, I can't remember .....

Just remember it being the beer of the night or something, I only had 2 and they ran out :(
