I lost the label, it was normally $77, I paid $35.

8 steaks at 8oz each

12 oz of mini steaks

A bag of parts and pieces

How far back do you trace your cow's lineage?

I laughed at this...It's true..They had Johsonville sausage on sale and they said the original price was 6.00..That's like 1.50-2.00 higher than anyone else...

Yep, have to look at the final per poundage not how much you're "saving".

But, $6 for any grade beef tenderloin is a decent deal. After trimming and cutting into steaks, the one I got looked to be about select.

I’m certain it’s lower grade, but it is a tenderloin and when it’s trimmed properly and cooked correctly it’ll be fantastic. I’m a low rent guy evidently because I don’t have a meat market within 45 miles of me that sells prime cuts of beef. The local grocery store had USDA Select beef tenderloin on sale a few weeks ago for $4.99/lb limit 2. I ended up with 6 over a few trips.

What exactly are you trimming off a tenderloin?

Pretty common to have to trim a whole tenderloin before cutting into steaks.

Whenever I buy one at Sams/Costco I have them trim and cut into steaks. The trimming I grind up and mix with some lean ground beef. Makes a real good burger.

I agree..I got two individually cut steaks that were about 3 inches thick for a little over 6 bucks. I butterflied them and put them on the grill for about 4 minutes a side. They were damn good almost the consistency of a top shelf lean Ribeye. I ain't complaining..

What do you guys use the chain for, besides grind?

I think I'm going to try this recipe courtesy of Alton Brown.
