Oh those are two good ones. I've spent some time in both with my pool hall buddies

This thread is a joke. They have dives but lack the character of Nola dives aka neighborhood bars.

What criteria are we following for something to be a Dive bar?
Also, the only reason I mentioned Duvic's was because of some of the comments i saw on yelp.

The timeout or patio lounge. One of the two recently caught fire though (the one off old Hammond I think timeout). Patio is almost as divey as they come for Baton Rouge. Lots of Jefferson highway locals. Tucked right before the mcdonalds on Jefferson if coming from Essen.

Backwater Lounge off Florida near Mary Lee's.
Some joint called Memories (I think) on Choctaw about a mile north of Airline.
Both are old school divey places. Good folks met in both. Not places where one would go to mack. Bartender at Memories had a Tammy Faye Bakker look.

Yep. Baton Rouge is really one oversized suburbia of hell.

I've seen that place. It's painted purple and gold.

I don't think you know what a dive bar is..
"Hipster" crowd =/= dive bar
Just because they're not your people doesn't mean it's a dive.
