There's plenty of better applications for shrimp, tomatoes, and rice. Nine times out of 10, I just don't find creole tomato jambalaya to be equal than the sum of its parts.
I love shrimp, they're expensive, I'm poor, and I and have plenty of other dishes that I reserve my shrimp for
I mean I don't disagree.
But calling it sacrilegious is a bit much when you also call it creole because you're admitting it's traditional, just not your traditional.
It's just Creole vs Cajun. Both are right in their own way.

Cajun Jambalaya is Jambalaya. All other Slim Shady's are just imitating.
Shrimp just doesn't have enough fat and grease to flavor the rice in a cajun jambalaya, and it's wasted in a creole jambalaya because it is so overpowered by the tomato flavor. It's a waste of valuable protein.

Nah, the music board is the worst music board on the internet. It's nothing but jam band fan boys and classic country. Everything else is "cringe" to them.
I'm really only a purist in two things:
Jambalaya and music. With music, I only hate the following things: synthesizers, drum machines, and sampling. I grew up playing real instruments, and I prefer the sound of those to the artificial. If it's not using synthesizers, drum machines, and sampled beats from other artists, I'm probably going to like it.
If it's food, I'm probably going to like it (the list of foods I don't like is pretty damn infinitesimally small), I just like to keep my jambalayas (and only my jambalayas) traditional. If that's cringe, then call me cringe.
P.S. I would DESTROY the OP's Jambalaya. It looks delicious. I was just trying to inform him that he shouldn't feel weird about using pork INSTEAD of shrimp, that shrimp is actually the variation and pork is the classic.

In your closed minded opinion.

So you don't like shrimp creole? Or arrabbiata?

drum machines
These are more common than you'd think too. I bet you like a few songs that use them but you don't know it.

No, it's historical fact. Cajun Jambalaya existed for 100 years longer than Creole. Creole was an invention of the 1920's thanks to the Italian immigrants in New Orleans. It is the variation, Cajun is the original. It's like the difference between pizza and deep-dish pizza.

I do. They don't cook the shrimp to death. Those are much better balanced dishes than any creole jambalaya I've ever had.

I know this. I do a fair amount of studio recording. Sampled drums are used constantly as a time and cost-savings measure. Just like with creole jambalaya, I'll eat it, but I'm not going to make it for myself. All recordings I've done with my band use real drums. You can tell because there's all the little imperfections and minor mistakes that make it sound real instead of synthesized. If it's too perfect, it just feels fake, and probably is.
I understand it is a personal preference, but it's my personal preference. Others are entitled to their own opinions on that.

This doesn’t sound right, but I don’t know enough about it to dispute it.

Do not need seafood to make jambalaya. You need cubed pork butt and a quality smoked sausage. Teets has awesome sausage and does a great job in shipping. I order from them regularly.

Screw it. If it’s good, it’s good. I put shrimp in dirty rice last week and my only regret was that I didn’t go ahead and add a can of tomatoes

No. Adding seafood's not bad in a CREOLE jambalaya, but creole jambalaya is gross tomatoy crap. Seafood in jambalaya is basically a scampi, which is its own dish. It may be semantics, but that's what it is.
really ???
I do not put tomatoes in mine, do not cook it Nawlins style.
As far a seafood, I have tried adding some shrimps (no other seafood) at the end and it is not bad.
