Headed to Austin for the Memorial Day weekend. Staying in The Domain and want to eat only local restaurants that are dog friendly. But not necessarily in the Domain. Where do you suggest?

I have plenty of suggestions in Austin, but none that allow dogs. Why would you want to bring a dog to dinner?

Steiner ranch steakhouse has 1/2 price burgers on mondays

Lucy’s fried chicken on the lake

Get the hell out of the domain. Every poser area of every big city has some douchebag shite like the domain with a punch bowl social.

Copied my comments from a previous Austin thread:

La Barbecue is better than Franklin. Must get brisket and a beef rib.

Via 313 for Detroit style pizza.

Holy Roller for brunch.

Uchi for the Sake Social. Get there early.

Loro is an amazing Asian smokehouse by the owners of Uchi and Franklin BBQ.

I will also co-sign the Easy Tiger and Banger's recommendations, also agree with the guy who said get the hell out of the Domain.

Ramen Tatsu-Ya
Terry Black's BBQ (no line BS, although it's been getting more busy over the last few months)
Kome Sushi
Pinthouse Pizza
Matt's El Rancho (Tex-Mex)
Taco Joint
Gus's Fried Chicken

Fair enough, I wouldn't recommend a fried chicken place in Austin to begin with. It's not anything unique to Austin, like say Nashville with the hot chicken... if you want local recommendations, just sayin'.

Yea I kind of forgot about the local thing in his post, although after looking through my list most of that stuff should be considered local... except for the Gus's, but man I just love that place.

And Ramen Tatsu-Ya... now that they've opened the 2 other locations I am able to go (I don't do line waiting), I am there at least twice a week.

Lucy’s in on the lake. Gus’s is great but I wouldn’t necessarily pick it over anywhere else in dt.

Lonesome Dove has the best happy hour in town. 4-7 mon-sat. $3 prime rib sliders ftw

Y eh, I don't think that the wife and I will be eating fried chicken while on Austin. Lots of other interesting options given however. All are greatly appreciated.

Never seen you mention this in these threads but yes. Not really a restaurant but they usually have a decent food truck out front.

I hope this place never closes. One of the best pubs in the city...it's a treasure.

I also recommend this one. Go to the new one that's right off I35 (The area is called The Link). It's great and has awesome beer garden. Their food is pretty damn good too. I usually get the Pastrami sandwich, which is awesome.

El Dorrado is really good Mexican, but be prepared to wait if you show up between 6:30-8.

Lichas Cantina for interior Mexican food if you are downtown.

They are serving bar grub now.

Without a doubt. It still has an old austin feel and I love the people tailgating in the parking lot.

No shite? I haven't been there since January I think. That's great. Is it Sunday afternoons that they do the free brats / sausages?
