if you are cutting out the carbs
You have to increase your fat intake to use the fat as an energy source.
its either that or have your protein and carbs at an equal ratio with your fat around 20-25%.

I try to stay between 50-100 carbs a day. With almost all being whole grain or wheat, or from dairy products.

Everyone I know who used Atkins had success with short term weight loss. Those who stuck with a lower carb diet as a lifestyle have had long term success. If you're not trying to lose weight I'm not sure what your motivation is to alter your diet.
The whole concept is based on the fact that our bodies evolved thousands of years ago on a diet of protein and fruits/veggies. The cave people did not have Doritos.
I've never been on the Atkins diet but I've purposely limited my carb intake for decades. Since high protein diets involve more fat I simply opt for leaner proteins...chicken, fish, lean cuts of beef and pork.
