For the revere sear, sous vide, bbq, and other enthusiasts.

Cliffs: For the price point ($35,) Thermoworks ThermoPop was their choice.

Infrared thermometers are for frying, and candy thermometer or thermometers with the ability attach along the edge of a pot are much better suited for that task than an instant read.

They are good for water temps for bread baking, yeast activation, etc.

I have a Thermapen but I much prefer using my Lavaworks Javelin. I find it to be better and at a better price of $26.99

Love my Thermopop.

Got it for free when I bought the Smoke internal thermometer.

I've been using a thermopop for years and have literally bought one for every member of my immediate family over the years for either their birthday or Christmas...for thirty bucks it's helped all of our cooking tremendously.

Real question here. Why do you guys like instant read thermometers over probe thermometers? Is it because you can test different places?

I generally just put my probe thermometer in the thickest part of the meat and let it go until the beeping happens.

ETA: I didn't think of multiple pieces of meat. I generally use my thermometer for large single hunks of animal.

Yah, cooking multiple chicken breasts, steaks, etc.

It's easier for stove top cooking than a probe. Much more flexible.

And it's good to cross check your probe with an instant read for big roasts/smoked/etc.
