I enjoy wine. I enjoy tasting it and thinking about its subtleties. I enjoy how it goes with a good meal.... But I really admittedly don't have the pallet for going any further than that. While I really like it, I just can't get beyond just a handful of basic characteristics. But hey, maybe it's better that way. Certainly cheaper.

ETA: To answer the original question, sometime in early college. Slowly progessed since then, but really reached my limit a couple years ago. (about to turn 30 now)

When I could afford a decent bottle. Coincidentally about the same time that i realized a well done steak might as well be shoe leather and started ordering them medium rare. So probably when I graduated college and got a big girl job

For me it was mid 20's, started out with reisling and then progressed from there. Went to Napa for the first time in 2004 and never looked back!

When I was 23. Started enjoying drinking red wine with my meals over beer and liquor. It made the meal more satisfying to me. Still an amateur though but trying to learn. I usually take pictures of the bottles I like that I purchase so I can remember which ones to stick with.
