I am in the mkt for a gravity fed smoker. Any commentary based upon research and usage is appreciated. Did see this thread for the Old Country on TD and I am intrigued TD Food and Drink Board

All I got is I've been wanting a Stump's Smoker for quite a while now. I just keep finding better uses for 5 thousand dollars.

I've settled on getting the Masterbuilt 1080 Charcoal Gravity Fed smoker. Don't have it in hand yet but will very soon.

Exactly my situation and has kept me from biting the bullet. Hopefully the Masterbuilt will do a great job - keep us informed.

Always read good things about both company’s gravity fed units. Only experience I have with either is an Assassin grill, one at home and at work. Would never buy another one again. Seems like most people are happy with their gravity feds, but with the entry of the Masterbuilt or Char-grill option I’m not sure they are worth 4K more than what you would sink into those. I guess you still have the option of running the regular ones manually with just the intake valve.

You can just about take a zero off and get a 1080. While it’s probably not as “nice” as the others that sure is a big price gap IMO.
