Everything tastes the same at that place. It's vastly overated and way too crowded. If you're looking for that type of food where everything is basically fried, I would prefer the crab trap both for the food and the atmosphere. My favorite family place in the area is stinky's fish camp out on 30A. If you're looking for fine dining in Destin proper, I would recommend Beach Walk. We stay east of Destin on 30A and some of our favorites for fine dining are Cafe Tango, Fish Out of Water and Cafe 30A. Baytown Wharfe in Sandestin is great for kids and Cafe Bijou at Baytown Wharfe is an excellent restaraunt.

I like the Crab Trap but prefer the Back Porch maybe just a bit. When we hit one of these two, we're looking for a few beach food staples..apps are always calamari and crab claws...Back Porch does a good job with both. As for enrees, my wife's last meal will be Blackened Amberjack, if she can place an order, and they do that well. We've had some good steamed crab there, too, but I'll agree with you..it's not haute cuisine...just good beach food in a fun, beach atmosphere IMO.To avoid the worst of the crowds, we always go early or late for a meal, never at prime time for lunch or dinner. I want to hit the Cafe 30A...heard good things about it.

haven't eaten there in 15 years, but it was good then and it's one of the original joints in Destin. I bet it's been in operation for more than 30 years...something has to be good.

790 North in Ft Walton.

My family and I went there on a recommendation, and when we walked in we realized it was a Louisiana inspired restaurant. We almost walked out right there.

Glad we didn't as it was pretty decent. Good gumbo.
