I've only ever heard of using the packets. Making your own seems like a hipster spin on an easy down home meal
If you cook often and have all the spices, making your own gives you much more control over the flavor of the dish. I haven't bought seasoning packets in almost 10 years.

Try 2:30 in instant pot for potroast. You are welcome

No one in my family, including me, likes pepperonchinis. What would be a good replacement?
We do slow cooker pot roast one of two ways (usually alternate since my family likes both ways)
1) Season with salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder, put in crock pot, fill with enough water to cover, add in two lipton beefy onion packets. Cook for about 6 hours, then add in cut potatoes and carrots and cook for another 2-3 hours. Serve over rice.
2) Season with tony's and italian seasoning, add in one jar of beef gravy and one bottle of italian dressing, cook for 8 hours, serve over rice or mashed potatoes.

My mom made it today. The flavor of the pepperoncinis is so good. Add them whole and just don’t eat them. They add a great profile.
