Reading reviews and sounds like it might live up to the hype.

Several times. Great atmosphere and good food. It isn’t my favorite, but everyone I know that’s been loves it.

It is very good. Can get pricey quick, but we've thoroughly enjoyed every meal we've had there.

Thread I made a while back when it first opened, with pics of what we got.

Not to derail the Helen discussion, but have you been to The Battery yet in Homewood? just opened a week or two ago. We went last night and it was really good. Atmosphere and look is great. It is kind of a more refined tavern/sports bar and with Birmingham's severe lack of anything resembling sports bars, it is very welcomed.

I'm a big fan of Helen. It is within walking distance from my office, which makes it way too easy to walk down for some smoked chicken and fresh veggies.

Good to hear that you like it. Heading there Wednesday for the first time. We loved Little Donkey when it was in that location. Hopefully the parking issue will be better with the Popsicle and and coffee places gone.

They had a lot of spots that they "reserved" for The Battery so that was good to see. Assuming it catches on, it will still have issues just with the overall size limit of the parking lot and stuff though.

I haven’t been yet. I think one of my buddies went recent and enjoyed it. Honestly, I don’t go to Homewood much even though it’s right down 289 from me.

It is solid. They aren't trying to do anything super unique. just a good looking spot, good variety of offerings, and a simple yet more upscale tavern type atmosphere. Especially for the area, it should do well.
