Really? I was thinking about picking one up from Ace Hardware.

pawn shops, man. pawn shops. they are already black and cured. you won't have to mess with it. the older the better. why buy new when the older and more burnt they get, the better.

Makes a good dog food dish. The weight keeps it from turning over.

My hyper active dog would still try to turn it over and crack a tile.

you should fry chicken in hog lard! thats a great meal to start off with. It also helps put a good coat after the original seasoning. Cooking 375 degrees w/ hog lard for about and hour or two= great pot!
Then start your jam!
Do not fry fish, for awhile in it FWIW

Just make sure not to make a shrimp okra gumbo in one. Made that mistake one time and it tasted good but looked like shite.

At first glance I thought he was asking if anyone used cast iron to cook their POT. I was like, nah, doesn't seems like a good use of cast iron IMO.

to cure mine, i just took it to the local meat market and told him to coat it with cooking oil and throw it in the fire in the smokehouse when he smoked his sausage. however, i made sure that they fried two batches of cracklins in it first.
