I send 20 or so a year for business gifts and I choose Haydels. It's a good cake of course, but they put a story in the box about mardi gras and throw in a bunch of little beads, coffee, cups, and other stuff.

Since the F&D Board is littered-up with enough King Cake questions for one day, I'll leave this question. Besides, Birmingham is a bit "out of state", right, so this should fit in this thread.

Question: who/what is Cartozzo's Bakery, and is their King Cake legit? Of all places, a display filled with their King Cakes showed up this week in the Homewood Piggly-Wiggly. Before I throw down my $$$ (they ain't cheap), I'd like to know more.

Google says that name has not previously been discussed on Tiger Droppings, yet their website claims 80 years in business. What gives here?

Thanks. Do they give a discount when you order 20?

I doubt it. They will sometimes get orders for a 100 or more from some clients. My little 20 isn't that important.

It's worth it though with all of the stuff they put in the box that out of state people seem to enjoy. I ordered from another bakery one time several years ago and was given a date when it would ship. Kind of got embarrassed when it showed up four days later than what I told my client the date would be.

Cartozzos is a wholesale bakery in Kenner. You don’t know their name bc they don’t do retail. If you shop at Restaurant Depot in NO, you’ll see the Cartozzos name on muffuletta rolls, poboy loaves, and other breads. Website here: [link=(cartozzosbakery)]LINK[/link]
I can’t vouch for the king cakes, haven’t tried one.
